Kenny Ho Chi Wa, born into a grassroots family in Tin Shui Wai, worked diligently for years to gain admission to the University of Hong Kong. He studied diligently and was once awarded a scholarship, as well as earned a place on the Dean's List. However, during his time at university, he was diagnosed with cancer, which forced him to temporarily suspend his studies and undergo radiation therapy. He ultimately made a full recovery.
During a visit to Dunhuang, he was captivated by the murals in the Mogao Caves and felt a deep sense of responsibility to safeguard traditional culture, to protect and preserve the heritage left by ancestors and pass it on to future generations. He chose to forgo a high-paying job to dedicate himself to founding an enterprise that utilizes advanced technology to promote and conserve traditional culture and began cultural education initiatives in Hong Kong schools. To date, he has educated over 40,000 students.
Through his work in education, Kenny gained a deeper understanding of the struggles faced by underprivileged students like himself, those who lack opportunities for upward mobility and platforms to showcase their talents. As a result, he established the charitable organization Mytheast Youth Club, which organizes various youth activities to help young people, particularly those from grassroots backgrounds like his own, showcase their talents. The club also provides them with opportunities to connect with successful individuals and access global development prospects, thereby supporting their academic and career growth, helping them change their social status, and facilitating upward mobility.
