Organized by the Mytheast Youth Club and funded by the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education of the HKSAR Government, the 2025-2026 "The Path of Governance": Youth Training Program was successfully held.
The event aimed to facilitate exchanges between students and Hong Kong deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) and members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), encouraging participants to reflect on how Hong Kong's strengths can contribute to national development and to propose policy recommendations accordingly. Outstanding proposals will have the opportunity to be submitted by NPC deputies and CPPCC members to relevant authorities, contributing to the development of Hong Kong and the country. A total of 63 students from 11 schools presented policy suggestions on leveraging Hong Kong's advantages in areas such as culture, technology, education, and waste management to support national development in various aspects. The students' policy proposals were of exceptional quality and received recognition from the judging panel.
This year, schools including the Chinese YMCA College, Ju Ching Chu Secondary School (Yuen Long), YLPMSAA Tang Siu Tong Secondary School, The Hong Kong Management Association K S Lo College, Tsang Pik Shan (Sung Lan) Secondary School, Fanling Government Secondary School, Lions Clubs International Tseung Chui King College, Rhenish Church Pang Hok Ko Memorial College, Buddhist Mau Fung Memorial College, Textile Institute American Chamber of Commerce Woo Hon Fai Secondary School, and S.K.H. St. Benedict's School participated in the 2025-2026 "The Path of Governance": Youth Training Program Policy Research Presentation. A total of 63 students from 11 schools put forward policy suggestions on how to leverage Hong Kong's strengths in culture, technology, education, and waste management to support various aspects of national development. The students' policy proposals were of exceptional quality and received commendation from the judging panel.
Among them, Ju Ching Chu Secondary School (Yuen Long), The Hong Kong Management Association K S Lo College, Fanling Government Secondary School, and Lions Clubs International Tseung Chui King College were awarded the Silver Award, while the Chinese YMCA College, Tsang Pik Shan (Sung Lan) Secondary School, Rhenish Church Pang Hok Ko Memorial College, Buddhist Mau Fung Memorial College, Textile Institute American Chamber of Commerce Woo Hon Fai Secondary School, and S.K.H. St. Benedict's School received the Bronze Award. The Gold Award winner, YLPMSAA Tang Siu Tong Secondary School, proposed the establishment of a "West Kowloon Cultural-Technology Integration Centre" and the expansion of the "GenA.I. Sandbox" initiative to strengthen Hong Kong's strategic role in the nation's cultural and technological development. The school also conducted a policy risk and effectiveness assessment for its proposal. The Mytheast Youth Club will submit this proposal to the relevant government departments in Hong Kong and the Mainland.
In his speech, Mr. Chan Sui Wai, Eric, JP, Commissioner for Youth of the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau, stated: "The students' enthusiasm for knowledge demonstrated throughout the process is truly impressive. Your policy proposals on the theme of 'Leveraging Hong Kong's Strengths to Support National Development' reflect a broad vision, unique insights, and great constructiveness, fully showcasing the innovative spirit of Hong Kong's youth. I also believe that this program has effectively enhanced students' sense of patriotism and their commitment to contributing to society."
Mr. Gordon Lam Chi-wing, Hong Kong Deputy to the National People's Congress and Chairman of the Mytheast Youth Club, remarked in his speech: "The core mission of 'The Path of Governance' is to open a window for young people, enabling them to systematically understand the profound heritage of the nation's history and culture, the evolution of its governmental structure, and to explore in depth how Hong Kong youth can leverage their unique strengths to find their role and contribute within the national governance system under the 'One Country, Two Systems' principle. The next edition of 'The Path of Governance' will be fully upgraded and expanded, featuring a 'Primary School Section,' 'Post-Secondary Section,' and 'Individual Competition.' The theme will focus on integrating the Northern Metropolis with national development, with an expected participation of over 6,000 individuals. This expansion aims to engage more young people at different educational stages, deepening discussions on the topic."
